We understand the challenges of settling in a new country, and we’re here to provide newcomers with the resources, knowledge, and support networks you need to build a fulfilling life in Canada. Supporting Our Most Vulnerable:
ALTS understands the unique challenges faced by Liberian seniors, refugees, and those experiencing illness & social isolation. We offer culturally sensitive outreach programs and active participation in community life. We want to ensure well being for all
Outreach Programs Provide:
- Culturally sensitive support groups
- Social connection for seniors
- Assistance navigating healthcare systems & social services
- Virtual & in person home visits
- Bereavement visits
Individual & Group Volunteering Opportunities
Building Bridges Through Service:
ALTS believes in the power of community. We offer a variety of ways for individuals and groups to give back to the Liberian community in Toronto & Surroundings. We believe that together we can strengthen our community by encouraging volunteerism, demonstrating a commitment to social responsibility to create a more positive impact
Volunteer Opportunities Include:
- Mentoring programs for newcomers and youth
- Skills-based volunteering in areas like translation, education, or healthcare
- Group volunteer projects that address community needs

Our Process!
- Select the volunteer position that interests you and click “Apply”. You will be redirected to our Volunteer Page to complete the form.
- Some positions do require police checks to ensure the safety of our youth and vulnerable community members.
- Please note we require two references. (Professional & Personal)
Opportunities
Newcomer Family Support
Hybrid-10 Hours Monthly-3 Months Commitment
Support newcomer families with referrals to:
- Settlement services such as Housing, Employment, Ontario Works, Legal Aid,
- Connect with other community members,
- Accompany where needed to appointments and community events.
Wellness & Outreach Coordinator
Hybrid -10 Hours Monthly-3 Months Commitment
- Weekly scheduled check-ins, either in person or virtually with our most vulnerable community members.
- Medical appointments where required.
- Seeking very friendly, warm and caring individuals in this role.
Youth Sports Coach
Hybrid.- Summer-5 Hours Weekly/Winter-10 Hours Monthly
- Teach valuable sporting skills and good sportsmanship.
- Organize tournaments among youths in other community organization
- Design training and program activities
- Prepare our youth athletes for competitions and help them strategize for success
- Lead practices and workouts
- Teach basic skills and techniques for sports
